Finally, an update

Well, it has been a while. I'd better get my blog updated before the baby comes. We've been busy wrapping things up with school and sports for the kids. Tyler just finished Spring baseball, with his dad as his assistant coach and his Uncle Bart as his coach. He really did a great job. It was funny to hear him call his Uncle "Coach" all season. He never called him Uncle Bart. Only "Coach"! He's becoming quite the baseball player.

Grace has her dance recital next week, hopefully I will get some pictures posted. She is a little Jane in Mary Poppins and is dancing to the "Hurry Nanny" song. It's really cute and Grace is a beautiful dancer.

We were busy this last month finishing things up for school. I think I overextended myself being 8 months pregnant. I escorted Grace's Kindergarten class to the zoo for a field trip the first week of June. I was able to help at the kid's fun run. I was so proud of the kids. They each had to run 1 mile. I knew Tyler would have no problem. He is so competitive and came in the top finishers for the first grade. I wasn't so sure about Grace. Last year I ran with Tyler, but I figured I wouldn't run this year. I was marking the kids laps as they came around, and I was so proud of Grace who ran the full mile, and even finished before most of the kids in her class. I also got to help Tyler's class tie dye shirts for their end of year party. My hands are almost back to their normal color now.

We are now enjoying a break from school. The kids have a couple of fun summer camps to help keep them busy. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Sofie, who should be born the last week of June. I am sooooo ready.

Grace's Kindergarten Program

Grace at her Kindergarten program and graduation. She had a speaking part and did a great job.

Grace's first lost tooth

A few days before we went to St. George over Memorial Day, Grace lost her first tooth. She was pretty excited, but didn't want the tooth fairy to come until she had a chance to show all her friends at school. Then she forgot to bring it to St. George with us, so by the time we got home, the tooth fairy kind of forgot to come. Oops. Of course, Grace's cousin, Ally, told her the tooth fairy pays double when she forgets to come. Lucky girl. If you look close you can see next to the missing tooth Grace has a fused tooth. Two teeth came in fused together when she was a baby. The dentist said that it happens and the permanent teeth will come in separate. She just lost the double tooth last week. She was thrilled to find a $2 bill from the tooth fairy for that double tooth. Tyler has turned into our resident tooth extractor. He has pulled all of his teeth, and now all of Grace's teeth. Brian was gone to bishopric meeting when Grace came and said her tooth was ready to be pulled. I tried and couldn't get it. So Tyler quickly offered his services and sure enough, out it came.

Grantsville Cemetery

We went to the Grantsville Cemetery a few days after Memorial Day. Brian has several Anderson ancestors buried there. We put flowers on his grandparents graves and also his uncle. Brian has been having fun doing genealogy lately and decided to find all of his ancestors buried here. There were two he could not find. Tyler said, "Maybe we should say a prayer to find them, Dad." Brian said that was a good idea, but continued walking around. He took a few steps and turned around to see Tyler on his knees, head bowed and in the middle of a prayer asking Heavenly Father for help to find the last two headstones. After about 20 minutes more of searching Tyler and I found them. It's nice for the kids to be able to get a sense of who they are.

St. George

Over Memorial Day weekend we took our annual trip to St. George with our wonderful friends. Several families, all with young kids, rented a few condos and had a blast. Brian took Tyler and Grace on a fun hike, while I stayed in the pool with Elsie. She spent one entire day in the pool. The kids swam and tanned and played at the playground with all of their friends, and we got to spend quality time with our friends. This trip is always a favorite for our family. Elsie loved swimming with her daddy who "throws her up in the air." Elsie is sitting next to me right now, looking at the pictures asking, "Can we go swimming at St. George?" Everyone had a blast.

Scout Camping Trip

Brian went on a Scout camping trip a couple of weeks ago. He decided to take Tyler along with him. They were out of cell service the whole time, and I didn't get a call until they were in the car on their way home. It was then that Brian told me they had just finished an 8 mile hike. I was a little surprised and had to ask "with Tyler?" They went through narrow passages and water filled cavities that Brian said went up to his thigh. Thankfully one of the young men carried Tyler through those areas. Brian said that, for the most part, he did well. The other bishopric counselor brought his son, so Tyler had a little playmate. He had a great time.

Piano Recital

The kids have been taking piano lessons from Grandma White this past year. They are both doing really well. My mom teaches piano to several members of the Spanish Branch she and my dad are serving as special missionaries in. My mom held a piano recital for all of her students. Tyler and Grace both did a fantastic job. Tyler got pretty nervous right before, but he pulled it off. It's fun to see them developing their talents.

Easter

GOOD NEWS!!! This year there were no significant behavioral mishaps, so the Easter Bunny was able to come! The kids remembered what happened last year, and were determined not to let it happen again. (Thank goodness) We had a great Easter.

Dying Easter Eggs

What could Brian be working so hard on for this egg?

Oh, this is what Brian was creating. That's my love! (It says, "I love Misty")

Easter Pageant

It's been a while, and I'd better update this blog before I have this baby. Here's some highlights from the last couple of months for our family.

Every year Aunt Valerie puts on an Easter Pageant. It is awesome. She walks the kids through the last week of Christ's life with the triumphal entry, where the kids get to lay palm leaves. Then they participate in the last supper and betrayal, leading to the Crucifixion. Then they get to look into the empty tomb and see that Christ is not there. It is a great way to teach the kids about Easter.
